Diane Crawford with her husband Michael Crawford

The annual visit of the District Governor is always a highlight on our calendar. District Governor Diane Crawford is a member of the Rotary Club of Southeast San Diego and has been a Rotarian since 1997. She was District 5340 Rotarian of the Year for 2011/2012. Diane served on the District 5340 Leadership team to assist 16 District Governors in a variety of roles, including Assistant Governor, District Membership Chair and Strategic Planning Chair. For all these roles, Diane drew on her broad expertise in sales and business management.
Diane spent part of her childhood in St. Martin in the Caribbean. Her parents were devoted to service: her father as Chief of Police and her mother as Assistant Chief to the Mayor.  Her mother was always working to improve the lives of her children, and that included moving the family to Connecticut for educational opportunities.  When all the children graduated, Diane’s mother returned to St. Martin. It wasn’t until her mother died, and she was charged with writing the obituary, that Diane realized the depth of her mother’s commitment to service. Her mother was even honored with the National Order of Merit, France’s highest honor. Diane was inspired by her mother to have the same commitment to servant leadership.  Rotary provided the perfect outlet.  Diane encouraged our members to build their own experience in Rotary by engaging with their own club through membership of committees and suggesting new projects, as well as expanding their Rotary skills through the Rotary Learning Center. She also outlined her plan for her term with a strong focus on membership growth and member retention.  Click HERE to listen to Diane’s talk.
