Community Service Committee

Meets: Third Thursday of each month at 11:15 before regular club meeting
 
Purpose
 
Our Community Services Committee serves the needs of the Del Mar community both with labor on Rotary work-day projects and with financial support of several nonprofit agencies.  All members of the Club are encouraged to bring new opportunities of need to be addressed by the Committee.  Each member of the Committee is also encouraged to take ownership of a program.
 
Recent & Current Projects
  • Provides life-saving dive rescue equipment and funds training opportunities for the Del Mar Lifeguards to help keep Del Mar beaches safe
  • Provide labor and supplies to maintain benches and waste receptacles around Del Mar
  • Help build sleeping cottages for individuals who are recovering from substance abuse or who are at risk of homelessness 
  • Host an annual Christmas party for members of the La Colonia clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest San Diego
  • Organize multiple blood drives for the San Diego Blood Bank throughout the year. 
  • Participate in community cleanups
  • Provide resources to help the Community Resource Center serve their clients 
  • Support the Canine Companion program that trains assistance dogs ... and one of our members is a volunteer companion-dog raiser.
  • Mount annual Rotarians at Work day project to beautify the Nativity Prep Academy campus
  • Maintain the Rotary clock at the corner of 15th St. & Camino Del Mar.
