Completed baskets and bag dimensions. Baskets that fit within the bags facilitate transport, both to the event and home with the winner.
Last week Val Myers hosted a Sunset Soirée basket-making party. So far, we have just over a dozen baskets, with a goal of having at least 50 (last year we had 68), so we still have a way to go. If you have good relationships with local vendors, ask them if they’re willing to donate an item, or a gift card or gift certificate. We can use these items to make more baskets. In particular, we need golf items (e.g., certificate for a round of golf) and restaurant gift certificates. If you’re making a basket yourself, it’s helpful to keep size in mind. Baskets should either fit within our 13” x 15” x 10” Rotary swag bag, or be easily dissembled so the contents can fit within the bag and the basket carried separately. If you have baskets or items, drop them by Sharon Schendel’s house or bring them to the weekly meeting.
Thank you to those who’ve made baskets or have baskets in progress: Karin and Jim Davies, Don and Donna Fipps, Dee House, Matt and Janice Kurth, Philippe and Dugan Lamoise, Brett Mattei, Toni Mecaro, Jennifer McDowell, Val Myers, Bill Rawlings, Mary Savoy, Sharon Schendel, and Linda Strangman.
Thank you as well to Mark Mathess for coordinating the beverage vendors (we need more of those, too!) and Suzy and Karl Wagner for coordinating the restaurants as well as the city permits. The Sunset Soirée is truly an all-hands-on-deck effort and we need every member to help.
