District 5340 Rotary Year 2018-2019

Mel Gallegos is the new District Governor for District 5340.  At the club level, Mel is Past President of El Cajon Breakfast Rotary Club and Rotary Club of San Diego Downtown Breakfast. At the District level, Mel has served as Assistant District Governor, Foundation Mentor, Rotaract Chair, Foundation Gala Chair and District Conference Chair.  

Mel was raised in Central California and earned a BS in Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills. After serving as a Hospital Corpsman station at San Diego Naval Hospital, he worked in the Cardiac Care Unit of Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he transitioned from nursing to help develop an electronic medical recordkeeping system. Mel has been recognized as a Partner of Health and Pillar of Philanthropy by the Sharp Health Care Foundation.  Mel is a multiple Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation and is a Bequest Society member.
