Katie Nielsen - Big Sister of the Year

 

Club Treasurer Katie Nielsen was named Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Year for San Diego and also for the State of California!   From here, she’ll compete with 300 other Big Sisters from other states for the title of Big Sister for the United States.   She was interviewed on KUSI News on Sunday morning and related how rewarding this experience has been throughout the 9 years of Saturdays she has spent with young Candra as her Big Sister.  Candra has applied to Purdue University for her continuing education – hmm, wonder if that’s because Katie studied there ....  Congratulations, Katie, for your wonderful commitment and gift of yourself. This is another exemplary example of Rotary's motto, "service above self".
