Arts for Learning San Diego: Ensuring arts education for San Diego youth

Despite the relationship between the arts and a variety of social, cognitive, and critical thinking skills, arts education is increasingly being seen as a luxury rather than a requirement in primary and secondary education. Arts for Learning San Diego (A4LSD) is dedicated to advocating and providing for arts in education to enrich the lives of children in the San Diego area.  A4LSD trains and commissions artists to form partnerships at the individual, family, school and community level. 

A4LSD Engagement Manager Mandy Shefman has a BA in art history from University of Arizona and has a MA in educational psychology from the University of Colorado in Denver.  After working with various non-profits devoted to children’s development, she is working to grow the A4LSA donor base and foster corporate sponsorships to continue to provide San Diego youth with access to arts education.
