Free Flight Bird Sanctuary

Free Flight bird sanctuary offers shelter and re-socialization for companion parrots, and also seeks to educate the public about the mental, physical and emotional needs of these beautiful birds.  Founded in 1981 by the late Dr. Robert F. Stonebreaker, Free Flight is located on Jimmy Durante Boulevard, just a few minutes from our St. Peter’s meeting site. Visitors to the sanctuary are encouraged to interact with the birds as part of re-socialization efforts. Experienced docents are always on hand to educate visitors about the care of exotic birds.

Jorge Arturo Reyes Loaiza is originally from Mazatlan, Mexico who began volunteering with Free Flight in 2014 and now serves as Avian Care and Visitor Liaison.  Jorge will likely have a few Free Flight residents join him for his presentation.
